Jack Flemming of the L.A. Times Is NAREE's 2026 Board President

MIAMI – Jack Flemming, who covers luxury homes and other real estate topics for the Los Angeles Times, and served as an active board member and conference volunteer with the National Association of Real Estate Editors, has been elected and installed as 2026 NAREE president.

An experienced panel moderator, Flemming will provide on-stage leadership at NAREE’s 60th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference in Miami, June 1-4.

Flemming, who studied journalism at the University of Missouri, was the winner of Best Young JournalistAward in NAREE’s journalism competition in 2025. He also won a NAREE Gold Award in 2024 for Best Residential Real Estate Story.

NAREE recently issued a Call for Entries for its 76th Annual Real Estate Journalism Competition. Deadline to enter is March 1. Journalists can enter their best work on contest.naree.org

NAREE leadership for 2026 also includes Suzann Silverman, editorial director of Commercial Property Executive and Multi-Housing News as vice president; Cati O’Keefe, editorial director of Green Builder Media, as treasurer; and Candace Taylor, bureau chief of Mansion at the Wall Street Journal, as board secretary.

Both Laura Kinsler of the Growth Spotter publication of the Orlando Sentinel, and Patrick Blennerhassett of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, were elected as active members of the board.

NAREE 2025 president Tony Wilbert of CoStar News is now chairman of the board and will serve in that position in the year ahead. NAREE 2024 board chair Aldo Svaldi, Denver Post, remains on the board as an active board member.

Jim Lapides of National Multifamily Housing Council was elected second vice president and Tierre Banksof Veterans United Home Loans was elected associate director.

Rotating off the board after significant terms of volunteer service to NAREE were Steve Brown, formerly of the Dallas Morning News; Katherine Feser, formerly of the Houston Chronicle; Ronda Kaysen, New York Times; Shonda Novak, Austin American-Statesman; Jeff Ostrowski, Bankrate; and Eileen McEIeney WoodsHomes.com.  NAREE appreciates the hard work and dedication contributed by these outstanding NAREE leaders.
