Beth DeCarbo, Wall Street Journal, Was Elected NAREE's 2019 President at Boston Fall Summit

BOSTON - The National Association of Real Estate Editors has elected new officers and board members to serve on the 2019 NAREE Board of Directors.

NAREE’s new president is Beth DeCarbo of the Wall Street Journal. DeCarbo has been an editor of the Mansion section since its launch in 2012. She has worked for the Journal for 12 years. DeCarbo and her team have won several NAREE journalism awards in recent years.  She previously served as NAREE’s 2018 vice president and organized NAREE University at the NAREE 52nd annual conference in Las Vegas last June.

NAREE’s new board members were confirmed at NAREE’s Officer Installation and Leadership Service Awards Dinner on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 at Coppersmith Restaurant in Boston. Dion Haynes, Washington Post real estate editor, who served as NAREE’s 2018 President, is now NAREE’s 2019 chairman of the board.

Catie Dixon, Bisnow managing editor, was elected vice president. She will head NAREE University 2019 at NAREE's Austin Conference June 26-29. Dixon has served on the NAREE’s board and has lead her team to win several journalism awards. NAREE’s second vice president is Alice Muncaster of CRE.  Muncaster is the author of five communications-related books and worked previously as a reporter.

Aldo Svaldi, a business reporter for the Denver Post, was elected NAREE treasurer.  He covers residential real estate and economic development in Colorado. He has also won NAREE journalism awards. Jason Hidalgo, Reno Gazette-Journal economic development reporter, was elected secretary. He has served as an NAREE officer and board member and also as won several awards. He did extensive reporting as a Fulbright Scholar in Japan.

Tony Wilbert, CoStar News and Jeff Collins, Orange County Register were elected as active directors at-large. Wilbert recently returned to journalism after working in public relations for several years. Previously he worked for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and was editor-in-chief of National Real Estate Investor.  Collins, in addition to tracking rents and home prices, has written about California’s solar mandate. He has won several NAREE awards.

Kris Hudson, a NAREE past president and former real estate writer at the Wall Street Journal and now manager of communications at CBRE, was elected to serve as an associate director.

Scott Trubey, Atlanta Journal-Constitution; Lorraine Woellert, POLITICO and Michael Walsh, The Real Reporter of Boston.
