CRE's '2020-21 Top Ten Issues Affecting Real Estate'
NAREE members tuned in for The Counselors of Real Estate "2020-21 Top Ten Issues Affecting Real Estate" via webinar on June 25. Each year, CRE identifies current and emerging issues expected to impact real estate significantly. NAREE members usually get the report at the annual conference, but since NAREE has moved the annual conference to September 23-26 because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the time-sensitive CRE report was presented virtually to members who signed up. Michel Couillard, Chair of the CRE and Deborah Cloutier, CRE, were the scheduled presenters and NAREE President Catie Dixon moderated. Questions from the audience followed.
No surprise that Covid-19 was the number one issue affecting real estate (and everything else). Economic renewal was number two, while affordable housing was number five on the list.
One developing trend comes from an early May Harris Poll indicating that nearly 40% of city dwellers are considering leaving their urban spaces coupled with reports from real estate agents that rural properties are in greater demand.
