LAS VEGAS - NAREE’s 52nd Annual NAREE Conference in Las Vegas will be a news-filled event with many CEOs, economists and industry leaders delivering cutting edge information and insights. Peer-led workshops — on how journalists can do their jobs better, faster and drive more eyeballs to their news platforms — will be held each day at breakfast and lunch. NAREE’s 68th Annual Real Estate Journalism Awards presentation, NAREE’s Meet the Press, and evening tours to Ascaya and Area 15 will round out the program.
The conference, June 13-16, 2018 at the Planet Hollywood Resort, will cover commercial and residential topics, as well as design and green issues. NAREE President Dion Haynes, Washington Post Real Estate Editor, will open the conference at 8:30 AM Wednesday, June 13. NAREE Vice President Beth DeCarbo, Wall Street Journal Mansion section Deputy Editor is heading up the journalism workshops. Conference advisors include NAREE past presidents Daniel Taub, Bloomberg News real estate editor and Los Angeles Times freelance Hot Properties blogger Lauren Beale. From the region: Eli Segall, Las Vegas Review-Journal will speak Wednesday morning and real estate reporter Catherine Reagor, Arizona Republic will be among the 50 journalists participating in NAREE University and NAREE’s Meet the Press (MTP). NAREE’s MTP will feature a series of three-minute, one-on-one meetings between journalists, bloggers, authors and communications professionals. More than 100 real estate journalists are expected.

THE MISSING MIDDLE: THE SEARCH FOR ATTAINABLE HOUSING SOLUTIONS. The duplex, the triplex and the bungalow court may offer solutions as Americans search for more diverse housing choices at affordable prices. This panel features Architect Dan Parolek of Opticos Design; Ralph McLaughlin of Veritas Urbis Economics and Mark Wolf, chief executive officer of AHV Communities.
THE ECONOMY: NAREE Past President Steve Brown, Dallas Morning News, will lead the economic forecast session on Friday morning. The Friday forecasters this year: Frank Nothaft, CoreLogic; Danielle Hale, realtor.com; George Ratiu, NAR; and Aaron Terrezas, Zillow. Earlier in the conference, count on hearing other spry analysis and predictions from Nela Richardson, Redfin; Rob Dietz, NAHB and Revathi Greenwood, Cushman & Wakefield and more.
THE RETAIL ARMAGEDDON: As the retail industry evolves, shopping centers are being transformed. A key thought-leader, CBL Properties CEO Stephen Lebovitz, former chair of the International Council of Shopping Centers, will be speaking to NAREE Wednesday afternoon. On Friday, NAREE’s Experiential Marketplaces panel will explore solutions with panelists Winston Fisher, Fisher Brothers; Anthony Buono of CBRE; and Aldo Muccia, Crescent Communities. Learn about e-commerce and “The Immersive Bazaar.”
MILLENNIALS: WHERE DO THEY LIVE, WORK AND PLAY? Join us Thursday at the Barriers to Entry panel with Millennial market experts Rob Chrane, Down Payment Resource; Cheryl Young, Trulia, Jeff Dickstein, Pro Teck; Javier Vivas, realtor.com; and Bill Walker of Unison Home Ownership Investors. And don’t miss “The Workplace Evolution” panel with Robert Perry, CBRE Global Investors; Michael Anderson, Colvill Office Properties; and Natalie Snyder Bode, Cushman & Wakefield.
