|NAREE Elects 2017 Board of Directors|

ORLANDO - The National Association of Real Estate Editors has elected new officers and board members for the 2017 NAREE Board of Directors.
NAREE’s new president is Michelle Jarboe, who covers real estate and development for The Plain Dealer in Cleveland. Jarboe, winner of several NAREE journalism awards in recent years, previously served as NAREE’s 2016 Vice President. Jarboe also organized NAREE University at the NAREE 50th annual conference in New Orleans in June.
Jarboe and the other new members of the board were officially confirmed at NAREE’s Officer Installation & Leadership Service Awards Dinner on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Orlando, Florida.
Steve Brown, Dallas Morning News, who served as NAREE’s 2016 President, is now NAREE’s 2017 Chairman of the Board.
Dion Haynes, Real Estate Editor of The Washington Post, was elected Vice President. Haynes will head NAREE University 2017 at NAREE's Denver Conference June 14-17. He served as NAREE’s 2016 Treasurer and has won several journalism awards.
NAREE’s Second Vice President is Michael Walsh, founder and publisher of award-winning The Real Reporter of Boston.
Jason Hidalgo, Reno Gazette-Journal, was elected Treasurer and Katherine Clarke of The Real Deal, New York, is the new board Secretary. Hidalgo and Clarke, both winners of NAREE journalism awards, previously have served as members of the NAREE board.
Catie Dixon, Central US Editor for Bisnow Media, has been elected Active Director. She edits and manages eight publications across the U.S. and London.
Neil Callanan, Bloomberg News, was elected Active Director, Callanan, an award-winning journalist based in London, covers real estate in Europe for Bloomberg News. Daniel DiClerico, Senior Home Editor at Consumer Reports, was elected as a NAREE Active Director. DiClerico is an author and a NAREE journalism award winner.
Brett Widness was selected as Associate Director. Widness is the Online Editor for Urban Land, the online publication of the Urban Land Institute. He formerly worked as programming manager with AOL Real Estate.
Other members continuing to serve on NAREE’s Board for 2017 are Shonda Novak, Austin American-Statesman; Beth DeCarbo, Wall Street Journal; Daniel Taub, Bloomberg News and J. Scott Trubey, Atlanta Journal Constitution.
